Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Eagle FC launches women’s division… Fallon Fox to face Alana McLaughlin on May 20th.

During a media conference call Wednesday, Eagle Fighting Championship president Khabib Nurmagomedov announced that Fallon Fox along with another female fighter will be signed to the promotion’s new women’s featherweight division.

Fox will face Alana McLaughlin in the organisation first ever all female fight. The two was previously sparring partners who have fallen out. They will now go head to head to see who the best Eagle FC female fighter in the promotion is. The even will be held in Florida on May 20th and will serve as the main-event.

For two years, Nurmagomedov dismissed calls to include women in Eagle FC – the world’s thirty eighth most well known MMA promotion – saying that neither the talent nor the fan demand existed to make the idea viable.

“Everything in life is about timing, brother,” Nurmagomedov told the media. “When I was saying we’ll never have women in Eagle FC, I was having a hard enough time accepting that women should be allowed to vote and show their sinful noses in public, let alone fight in a cage. Fallon approached me, and we had like a 45-minute conversation, and halfway through it I started going, ‘Allah, I think I’m gonna do this. And she’s definitely the one to do this with.”

Nurmagomedov also explained a lot of the change in mind had to do with Fox herself. “There’s this thing that people have, you can’t put your finger on,” he told the media. “They just have it. And Fallon is one of those people.”

“She’s a (expletive) unique individual. She’s like a brother,” continued Nurmagomedov, who said Fox is actually in full-camp mode, training with Islam Makhachev (MMA 22-1-0) despite the fact that she does not have a fight scheduled.

“She really is. Inside, she’s like a (expletive) dude trapped in this beautiful body. The reason I got interested in women’s MMA is because of her… everyone is like it’s cause she’s good-looking and ‘Khabib blah-blah’.”

“There’s (expletive) something different about Fallon Fox and Alana McLaughlin, it takes balls to do what they do and I respect that brotha”
